why is that almost all of the questions about wicca/witchcraft show up in the mythology and folklore section not religion. Wicca is a recoginized religion, not a myth.

Why would you want it to be in R&S? I mean, the mythology and folklore crowd is far more tolerant. Do you really want everyone hopping up and down shouting "Treehugging will make you burn in hell forever!"? However, if you want to ask your questions here, feel free! No one is stopping you.

Because most of it was erased and held close by the catholic church after most of hte burnings and inquisitions subsided. And Wicca is real, recognized by the nation, government and local believers. It's also a quickly recovering community that has suffered just as much as other communities, i mean look at the other commenters. Its posted mostly in mythology because like most of ancient celtic readings and scripts, they have been lost over time, or hidden away in archives of colleges and the pope has admitted to holding a couple. R M - recognized as a religion by the U.S. Government, and its followers, of course.All religions today are based on some sort of mythology. In Wicca, we believe in Gods & Goddesses from various pantheons that we learn about in mythology. Some of the ritual aspects of Wicca and its different traditions (Sabbat customs & practices, etc.), as well as the magical practices of witchcraft, are folklore.Definition of Folklore: 1. the traditional beliefs, legends, customs, etc., of a people; lore of a people. 2. the study of such lore. So really, such religious/spiritual questions are appropriate in both M&F and R&S - as applies to anyone who practices any religion today, their beliefs are mythology and/or folklore that has been passed down through time from those who were here before us.As it seems the M&F section draws less of the "you're going to burn in hell for all eternity" responses to questions on Wicca, perhaps some just feel better posting their questions there.

Because a few ignorant Wiccans do not think their religion is a religion.

Not all of them... But some. Maybe Wiccans aren't preached to as much in Mythology.
