I had a thought the other day: I've been sewing for the greater half of my life.. I am undoubtedly a kin to vampires, and experience great unsatisfaction with the relationship of the sun, the weather and my clothing.. and I can't be the only one.. So.. I can make a (hopefully wide-ranging) line of clothing for vampires. How about it?

The "vampire" clothing I see is either overly "gothic" or "fetish" (which can be pretty, but not my thing), with past heavy fabric, immobility in the design, or just a t-shirt with something cheesy printed on it. These things make special apparel difficult to find, especially in more than one "genre" of style, not to mention wear with comfort or even afford. None of that. Forget it all. I know all people have different tastes (I could never decide on one), and prefer to wear a plethora of colors. And even though anyone can buy something "good enough" at MajorClothingStore, I want to go beyond that. Something more practical, and useful. For example, most of us need covering without being hot or looking strangely overdressed, for one thing.. like having "umbrellas dressed as clothes", as I call it. And I hate suffering in summer and having to be social at the same time.. X). So why don't I make something that fits to fix this (and other things)? Do you want it? Would you wear it?

We're all the pinnacle of this operation. Thus, I need as much input as humanly (haha?) possible.. My style and color palates are insufferably infinite, so don't be afraid to say what you want in your apparel.

Like the idea? Here are some starting questions:

1. Are you satisfied with the apparel available to you? Does it fit your standard of practicality under the sun, rain, and/or snow?

2. If you could have apparel that served a more desired function than what is available, what would the function be? Why is this better than what is present?

3. If I made these for you, would you buy them? (Depends? XD)

4. How old are you, and what is your occupation? (Helps narrow a few fields for me- like if it would it be better to create a casual as well as business lines, or just one or the other.. etc)

5. Is there a certain pattern or style you wish you had? A certain palette of color for your seasonal wardrobe?

I can speculate more after some research and TONS of input. So please respond!!

the apparal to day is way extreme, with chains and spikes and the like. its hard to find decent vampire clothing with out spending alot of money, as i dont have much at hand. its also very baggy at times, as i prefer tighter fitting clothes. i usually wear a Underarmour shirt and some tight jeans with my boots. its not what i would prefer, but its waht i have at hand.

i would want clothes that are casual, stuff i can wear to a dinner, but still stand out. i also want clothes that are made for different seasons. some clothes for the summer and some for the winter. Trech coats are getting really expensive, even for cloth, which i prefer. they are also weighed down alot with too many decorations and other things. a couple of grommets and D-rings here and there and thats it. not a bunch of chains and spikes as cool as that looks. i really want some thing subtle, but i can still stand out. on the other hand, i would like some things on the wild side just for fun.

if you made these clothes and had them reasonably priced (a cloth trenchcoat at Hot Topic: $90.00. ouch....) i would definatly take a look and most likely buy that brand.

i am 20 years old and am currently in the service (Marine Corps). personally it would be better to creaqte all kinds of wear, as you never know who might be looking for what and when.

i like flat blacks and deep reds. soild colors suit me best, with gunmetal accents. i've been a big fan of fishnet, and the "vampire" look. i also enjoy the "metal' look.

anyways i hope this helps as i have typed quite a bit.

idea for you. try a make up line. i also enjoy wearing eyeliner and black nail polish on occasion.

well it would be hard to make anything original but if you offer to people with a decent price you can make a tidy profit. Good luck with it if you ever may try.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I would love a ine that is wearable to everyone. Something in all colors and styles, because I dress to my mood. SO somedays I look like a little emo kid and sometimes i look like a freakin cheerleader on the sidelines. Im too anxious to answer all the questions but: YES I would buy and I am 17, but do not like to be looked at as a teen as I live on my own, support myself, ,and do not associate with other people my age. HOWEVER I tend to dress a little more my age than i act.

I think what would make your idea work well, id you could make your items cheaply.

I'm a goth, which means there are plenty of dark clothes etc to suit my vampiric needs. However the main issue is the cost of the them. The best ones are in the hundreds of pounds which I can't afford.

One main area, whilst not clothing, is sunglasses - specifically the the ones that cover the sides like welding goggles do?

Anyway, my personal taste is tightwearing trousers, knee high boots. I favourite jacket at the moment is my military style jacket.

So mainly, blacks, deep reds / purples, and only white to work with the black. (I have a pair of trousers like Beetlejuice)

For info - I'm 24 next month and a service co-ordinator (I manage 25 lazy arse engineers)
