The Dangers in Magick
I wanted to comment about two different kinds of danger today, the first being the philosophy or understanding of black magick and its context in relation to the Dark Ones/Ancient Ones. So I've posted up some comments pertaining to the series Twin Peaks - which I feel is an excellent representation of the Sinister and the forces and the method by which Satanists should seek to evoke Them.
But also a less formal questioning of members of OF about their experiences with black magic and testaments to the danger involved in working in a group with people unprepared for the results of magick.

The series Twin Peaks by David Lynch and Mark Frost is very interesting in relation to the work of the Temple of THEM.
The view of two diametrically opposed lodges, Black and White, is one
grounded in a causal view of the world and results from the dichotomy
that humans in this particular time upload or project onto the film
[or the world] as a natural reflection of the level of abstract
understanding currently achieved as a whole.
Only in appearance, appearance caused by constraints of perception, is
there a black lodge or a white one. In essence, there is a third
dimension. A synthesis of understanding that neither of these alone
are representative of any outherworldly forces but that of the
magickian alone, that in fact any divisions into two opposed forces is
an illusion, and a dangerous one at that for any magickian truly
atempting to enter the Abyss. What draws the Dark Ones and Opens the
Gates is not one side or the other, and certainly not a causal
magickian - but a see-sawing between two very vital elements in the
deepest secrets of the Occult - Sex and Death, or, represented in Twin
Peaks as Fear and Love. The tension created by these forces, and not
the satisfaction of either in orgasm or death, entices the Sinister,
those we call THEM that dwell beyond. It is that tension that creates
the gateway through which such entities may enter, not the
satisfaction of either in some mistaken orgy or prayer ritual,
followed through to a conclusion by misguided members of magical
fraternaties, whatever their creed.
See for instance, Dale, who has many white lodge allies enters the
curtained room and is confronted by Bob. Bob, a manifestation of the
Dark Ones is neither light nor dark, as soon becomes apparent. When
Windom Earl attempts to take Dales soul, Windom is subsequently
consumed by Bob. IN a dual-view, one thinks that because the 'dark'
side has recieved his just desserts, that Dale, a paragon of niceness
and light, will recieve his. In fact, this is revealed to be an
illusion and a dangerous one at that on Dale's [and the audiences]
part. It becomes apparent that the forces beyond the veil represented
by the lodge are playing by a very different set of rules. There is no
happy ending for Dale, for after being rescued and awakening in the
safety of bed by his two friends, he becomes the next victim of Bob.
This too is the fate of all who seek to awaken the Dark Ones without
full awareness attained.
And this, is why this series is an excellent example of the nature of
the Dark Ones, perhaps purposely, perhaps unconsciously, explicated by
the Twin Peaks series - as one of the deepest secrets of the Occult,
particularly of those who some call the Left-Hand Path.

Calling Satanas
I'm interested in hearing from others about their experiences with group magick where a person has become possessed.
I recall a magical ritual performed in NZ, where a friend of mine, a usually cheerful chap [not magickally inclined] joined us in evoking Satanas. He could not handle the forces drawn down and they possessed him. That is to say, his mood changed drastically out of character shortly into the ritual and he grabbed another of the coven members and tried to steer him into the fire.
He said nothing but just seemed so enraged that we were forced to knock him out by punching him. When he woke up he accused us of hypnotizing him and said he remembered nothing of trying to kill 'C' and harboured a deep resentment for us for knocking him out.
In fact he stopped being our friend altogether. I'd known him 8 years.
From my experience, even simple exoteric black magick is extremely dangerous in a group - in 2003 another friend of mine took part in a ritual of binding where we recieved magickal names and it was asked of the 'forces that Be' to 'Test us'.
One month afterwards, aaron was incarcerated in a mental asylum and was never the same again. He ceased all involvement in the occult and became a hard-wired christian.
And again, the founder of our coven then, was also driven from us by forces of hatred that filled him and made it incompatible for us to stay his friend.
Whatever my reservations of magick might be regarding certain gullible inclinations or play-acting or whatever, there are numerous experience that prove to me nasty things happen even at this low level of 'messing around'. The first fellow didn't even believe in it and yet he went quite psychotic. And personally, I've been restrained too after trying to strangle a colleague during a black magickal rite during which I felt irrational rage and the desire to kill him overwhelm me. It was at the time as though I accepted I wanted to be the demon invoked as though I wanted to prove the existence of demons and act out the role - but I nearly killed my best friend, and was left wondering who or what was really having those thoughts.
When looking at rituals eight years later, of the magnitude of the Ceremony of Recalling or the Rite of Nine Angles by the ONA - we are yet to organize a group strong enough, psychically balanced enough, to attempt such strong magic. Has anyone else had similar experiences of people being possessed - or has found ways to psychically strengthen psyches against such forces? The Temple of THEM are no amatuers, but it seems that to try the ONA's grand magic without proper preparation would be pretty damn stupid. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has attempted either of the aforementioned Rites.
