What happens when you are 'turned' or 'awakened'?
When someone is 'turned' or 'awakened' into a vampire, what does that mean? How is someone turned?

Don't dream it~be it
In the still darkness you come to me~
washing over every nerve in rythems~
Through purple fields I chase you~
You are lost to my eye~
And if I call to you, you will not hear~
Concealed in my heart you must be~
Never to be opened like some great birthday gift~
You sing like a siren to me~
I am overcame and can stand no more~
Foreign upon my ear,yet I feel you~
I, who may never behold you, am humbled~
How can you touch me~
That I may never touch back~
I can find you over far away seas~
And to never have~
And only to be~
I'll find you within me~

Okay, firstly, it is not possible within the human living vampire community to "turn" another human into the vampiric condition. So, please don't ask someone to turn you, if you haven't already been asked this. It's not something we all enjoy, and it is a difficult lifestyle to live with day-to-day.
As for awakening, this term is used to represent a state of change, from going from one state of being to another. Usually this encompasses an "awakening" of knowledge, and a coming to awareness of the vastness and complexities that live within us. Now, as for a vampiric awakening, this usually means awakening to the fact that one requires something extra to sustain one's self, usually blood or energy. This is often followed by an awakening of knowledge, or a heightening of one's mental capacities to incorporate the knowledge of how to gain this extra sustanence. Some people reportedly remember past lives and the knowledge from those times, others simply gather information from other sources such as reading or talking with others. The next step in this process can happen two different ways, but both usually occur. There's normally an active pursuing of the ability to gain the extra sustanence, whether it be blood or energy, and how they can obtain this, and some often go through a period of denial. Now, as I said, these two phases don't occur in any set order, but more often then not you'll notice that denial comes first before anyone actively begins to pursue their needs.
Well, I hope this helps. Any more questions, just let me know. I'll try and get back to you if I can. ^_^ Be safe, and take care.

Just a quick note to add in regards to "turning". There is an instance where it may seem like someone has been turned, often after being fed from. This also doubles as "awakening" someone. It is called sympathetic vampyrism. Sympathetic vampyrism is a term used for someone who has had something happen to them that their energy bodies need to replenish their personal energy, or spiritual energy, and the easiest way to do this is to feed from energy, and thus the "symptoms" of being vampyric are born in this person. Usually this happens to donors who are fed from often. If they are fed from very often then they are not given a chance for their personal energy stores to replenish naturally, so their bodies automatically begin to draw in energy from outside sources. Another way this condition could occur is if a person has been psychically or metaphysically attacked or damaged spiritually; this would cause the body to react with the need to heal and replenish itself and therefore the easiest way to do so is energy feeding. This could manifest as both psychic or sanguine vampyrism on both accounts, but usually doesn't often occur beyond psychic feeding, seeing as the physical body doesn't require the added nutrience from the blood so it wouldn't bring about the need for blood, though if damaged enough, blood would be an ideal source for energy seeing as it is the most condensed form of energy and lifeforce.
So, as I said, any more questions, let me know!
