Psychic vampirism is hard to recognized. Some psychic vampires self-identify on the basis of how they feel; others rely on how they seem to affect people around them. But some psychic vampires hold that the only way to know if you are a psychic vampire is to be “recognized” by other, "experienced" psychic vampires who read your aura or "energy signature".

Here are some basic indicators to check if you are a psychic vampire (treat these as guidelines only).

feeling a strong sense of "drawing energy" in the presence of other people (which may be experienced as a sense of fullness, a sensation of pressure or inward "suction" in the solar plexus or above the bridge of the nose, a sense of sudden elation, euphoria, or increased vigor, or an odd optical illusion that the area around you has gotten a little brighter, as though someone just turned on an extra lamp somewhere);
feeling a sense of "energy overload" in which you easily "hit the wall" in social situations and need to withdraw and be alone; and lassitude, weakness and depression when you're cut off from your usual social interactions.
Some psychic vampires include emotional empathy ("feeling" other people's emotions and experiencing them) as a symptom, although non-vampires can be highly empathic. Effects on other people might include depression, fatigue, or loss of energy when people are around you, people sometimes avoiding you or withdrawing from you for no apparent reason, or people giving you harsh feedback about your alleged neediness, clingyness, intrusiveness or negativity.

However the feeding is performed, most psychic vampires report to get greatly invigorated physically and psychologically. Feeding can cause an amphetamine like rush.

Like blood vampires, psychic vampires feel that they must "feed" on the energy they require on a regular basis, and many report physical feelings of discomfort if they are denied access to a source. Symptoms of "energy deprivation" include extreme fatigue, depression, mood swings, immune system suppression with an increase in illnesses, uncontrollable "draining" of non-targeted sources, insomnia and anxiety, along with negative reactions from others close to the psychic vampire.

can someone help me clear something up? this may sound sill y to some, but i think i may be a psi vampire.
here's why, at ranodm piont sin the day my friends just start avioding me. it and just happens to be at the piont in the day when i feel like my energy level has just hit rock-bottom. i get extrmely depressioned when i get stuck at my house alone for more than like 6 hours. adn for some reason, when i've been alone for a long time adn then come into contact with peoplei suddenly get huge bursts of energy coursing through me.
what'd you guys think? my friends tell me its because i have ADHD or something, but i don't haveADHD or DDor any of that. can you guys help me clear this up?

well i pretty much got my prob figured ut..... turns out i was going through awakening.....and didn't know it but one of my wiccan friends knew before i did.......
now i'm tryin to learn to conrtol my feeding issues......(i have a tendancy to feeduh, accidently i guess woudl be the word, if i'm in like big group of people or sitting with my friends during lunch....)

For all of you out there that are trying to figure things out, I'd suggest checking out The Psychic Vampire Codex. I'm sorry to say that the only one who can tell you if you're a vampire or not is yourself. But this book gives you guideline on the awakening process, and feeding techniques, as well as a large array of psionic abilities. I hate sounding like I'm advertising here, but it really is the best book I've found on vampires. The same author put together the book, Vampires: In Their Own Words, which I've just started reading.

I agree with Phoenix on both accounts. You're the only one who can decide what you wish to believe, and what you're willing to accept. If you're truly awakening, then the Codex will help with energy workings and manipulation. It is loaded with easy-to-read information laid out in a simple format with small articles so as not to be long and drawn out. Yet each small chapter is full of information that will be helpful. You can also visit the House Kheperu website at House Kheperu :: Seek Your Own Truth and read some of their articles or join their forums for more information about Michelle's workings. She's an amazing author, and an amazing energy worker.
