I'm a European Union citizen what forms do I need if I wish to marry an American citizen?
You can marry in either country. In the US, you go to the County Clerk's office to purchase a Marriage Certificate. The officiating person -- judge, ship captain, or preacher will sign that document. You mail the certificate back to the County Office to be recorded and officially stamped. The county then mails that completed certificate back to you. In Europe, they have different offices with similar procedures. The American Marriage Certificate is usually more ornate. But, that does not entitle you to live or work in the USA. To reside here takes a Spouse Visa. I suggest a lawyer. Costs is about $2,000 and it takes 13 to 24 months, however when you receive notification of the case is pending you can stay until the case has final determination. To work in the USA takes a Green Card, another visa stamp.Coming from the EU, you can stay in the USA for 90 days on a tourist visa, which requires signing a visitors' card on the airplane and going through customs.
