Default In which European Union country is it the easiest to obtain citizenship (for an American)?

I am looking for employment in several EU countries, but each job description states that the candidate "must be an EU citizen". I speak Spanish, and I have lived in Spain (6 months, and then, a couple summers after that, but I don't think that will help). My ancestors come from Poland on my mother's side and Belgium on my father's side, if that helps in any way. Any suggestions?

'Sweden' or 'Norway' --- yes now it's very difficult as EU citizines are given a priority. However depending on your job type, skills I think you should be able to settle in Western Europe. UK, Denmark, I don't think it'll be that hard in Spain --- but obviously you need to stay in that country for a period of time, and after you've met the requirements you can become a citizen.Alternative --- Get Married!

If it is anything like Portugal one of your parents or grandparents would have had to immigrated from there homeland to make it possible to become a dual citizen.. Since my father was born in the Acores and I have his Birth Certificate I can apply for dual and that also makes my kids eligable.

Probably they mean "EU Resident," not citizen. You might look up http://europa.eu/index_en.htm and see what they say. That site can lead you to a place to ask specific questions if the answer you need is not easy to find.

POland is now part of the european union, if your grandfather was polish then there you go... you have the rights of claiming your polish naturalization which will eventually lead to an european union passaport... ( Remember bu Poland laws the citizenship status can only be passed if was their male not from the female, so you would claim it from you grandfather to you... you grandmother being polish would not help...)Lots of luck... I love Spain,,,, Viva Barcelona... beautiful place... hopefully one day I will obtain some type of visa status to live there... ( My grandmother is from Poland so I had no luck there, since my grandfather was brazilian)
