The darkness within... It's were my nightmares are reality and madness reigns... When I get the mind set I tear you dwon and apart. Emmotionally, mentally, sometimes physically... And I enjoy it when I'm like that... I get a twisted satisfaction when I see there hearts being ripped apart (metaphorically) because they did the same to me... And I don't relent until you break (usually) or my conscious kicks in (also common) or I feel like I made my point and are satisfied (rarely).... It's a part that I fear but love to use against an 'enemy'..... It's particularly bad when I get in a fight because I break into your mind and can sense every emotion and I toy with them empathetically. Increase your frustration till you snap and make a mistake and lay you out. Which is particularly easy due to my martial arts training. Or I break you completely. Send you into an emotional and mental breakdown by playing on your fears, in the most extreme case I institutionalized someone. i am not proud of this. i fact I feel ashamed for ever doing such a thing to another bieng, even if I believed they deserved it.

It depends on what you mean with “a dark recess in someone’s mind” and what kind of creature you apply it to.
At birth, humans do not have a “dark” or “evil” side to them because at that moment they are still completely submerged into nature – and nature does not have a good or evil mentality to it. Nature is neutral and has only one guiding aspect: survival. Animals do not torture; they merely do the things necessary to survive. If man were to be a completely natural creature (read: if man didn’t have self-consciousness), he wouldn’t commit any cruel acts either.
Grown humans who have experienced powerful events that have imprinted strong memories and personality-alterations on their minds might have a “dark side”, but this side is created by themselves, whether consciously or unconsciously. Usually this is happens unconsciously due to fear or inconvenience. So-called “evil” thoughts are repressed by the unconscious because they interfere with our lives and chances of survival. Obviously sometimes people will push back certain memories of their own will because they are too uncomfortable to think about.
The entire act of repressing – whether consciously or unconsciously – and thus creating a dark side is detrimental to a life: because it is hidden in the subconscious, it is uncontrollable until it rises to the conscious mind – and when that happens, the damage is done already.
I cannot speak for Vampires, but I have seen no evidence at all that this is different with them.

I beleive that we all have our animalistic instincts, some more potent than others, some necessary, some unecissary.
We all have the ability in us to do what is right, what is just and what is honourable. However it is also possible for our morality to fail, where we act totally like animals, devoid of any social reasoning.
However these feelings I believe can be a blessing if tempered and chanelled into amazing things.
For me, this takes the form of my passion. Instead of lusting for all women, which i believe is an animalistic trait, I channel it all into love, devotion and passion for my one lady.
just my thoughts,
V.
