I was thinking yesterday, and I get what makes vampires different from humans, but do you think that we're really a different species? I mean, everyone's got one heart, two eyes, two legs, two arms, ect. Vampires just have an energy deficency. Do you think that makes them not human? I mean, vampires in myths and literature aren't, but real vampires (sangs and psis) should be considered just a different form of humans. It seemes to me to be like saying something silly like I'm not human because I can wiggle my ears, which most people can't.
Oh, and I'm not talking about "immortals." Personally, I think that's all bs, no offence meant to anyone on this site claiming to be one. I just don't think of it as possible, no matter how you look at it.

I've thought about this too. I think that we could be just a type of human with different characteristics physically and, most of the time, mentally. It's just like saying a black bear is a different species all together from a brown bear. One might be more aggressive and likely to attack someone, and the other sweet as ice-cream. So, I believe we are just a rare type of human, so to speak. I'd like to know how everyone else looks at it.

D.I.T.F.-Ninja summed it up perfectly. The homo sapien sapien is still bound to this world and therefore the rules of evolution. As this world changes so to do modern human beings and every other organic life form found on Earth. These changes may occur at varying speeds. It is possible for certain outliers, 'freaks of nature' to crop up every now and then.

Given this, do not consider yourself lacking or inadequate if you are an average healthy human being. This life may still prove to be just one in a series of many. If this is so then perhaps in the next the rules will change.

I think that vamps are human. They just see things differently than mortals. But when it all comes down to it, we all feel and all that good stuff. So in that sense we are the same. =)

I agree. Vampires are humans that have maybe hit a different key on the evolutionary scale for some reason. Maybe it's a physical reason, or maybe you just got lucky. I don't know, and I'm not sure any of us will know unless we do the proper research. However, by saying that vampires are just a different type of human, I suggest that all real vampries be careful. I'm just saying that if any scientist TRUELY believed that they could trace a different gene in our blood...I don't know...It's just something small that I worry about, is being tracked down by someone with the money and resources to discover what makes us have an energy deficiancy...I don't know if anyone shares my worries...but maybe I'm just being paranoid...

Most so called vampires are human, it would be the soul that is in question, that is what would not be human. You incarnate into a physical human body. Depending on what kind of vampire you are, your soul can be many different things.

I am going to take a logical standpoint and say we may be different but all in all we dont qualify as a different species. Ducks and humans are differnt species for obvious reasons but vampires dont really qualify.
