This is a video of the 1984 olympics closing show. It looks awesomely done to me. Supposedly there is a helicopter holding up the ufo from a cable. For some reason the news reporter states that it runs off jet fuel and weights 2,000 pounds. Which doesnt make sense to me because if it did then it would be flying today. The weird thing to me is that it's in the air high above the stadium and then all of a sudden it's on the ground in the stadium within seconds and I think it would take some time to place it in the center between all of the spectators for their safety, but I don't know, is it to test the waters on the publics reaction to the Alien phenomina? or is it just because of the e.t. /close encounters and star wars movies popularity? you be the judge, what do you think?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCYElo49dJI

David L. Wolper and Tommy Walker came up with the idea of the UFO theme. It took designers John McGraw and John Miles five weeks from start to finish to create. The UFO was lifted by a Bell 314 big-lift Helicopter and it was 50 feet in diameter. They used a 90 KVA 208 3 phase gas turbine generator to power the lights. (Of course I can't find any links to it now that I need it.) The whole project cost a lot and gave nothing in return since it was very unpractical and even unsafe to use.

oh boy there was a prototype of that unit in the 80s but when it started up it exploded killing a few scientests i should know researching paranormal used to be my hobbie when i got board. but a working flight model is impossible (even today) it would have to be towed be a plane or helicopter
