I am talking about a 100 % true UFO from space and the American Government knows that it is nothing they have. What are the procedures that local law enforcement must follow as well as the United States government and military must follow regarding a " first encounter" like this ?

They'd tell the conspiracy-theory stoners and/or rednecks to offer hard proof of such a thing happening. There's no policy on such an event because it doesn't happen.Besides, everyone knows Superman's spaceship landed in a Kansas cornfield, not an Iowa cornfield. Don't tell me you've never watched "Smallville"...

There was a show on the History Channel about this one time and they showed various documents about what to do, but I cannot find them on the internet because if you type in the word "UFO" 10 million pages come up. I remeber one part of the show. It was talking about an UFO entering a public area. It said that the fire fighters would be the first on scene and that you shoudl not cause it harm unless it is causing you harm. The firefighters are suspossed to try to revive it if it is unconsious and if it does cause you harm you should try to keep it pinned down until the military can arrive. I know they arent the best details, but its all i remember.

As weird as it sounds, I'm sure there is a written out procedure, but I do not know it. I assume as someone already said they would evacuate the area and probably keep things as hush hush as they could until they figured things out.

Cordon off the area, evacuate civilians, and bring in the army. Helicpoter gunships, AC130s, fighters, bombers, tanks, and alot of soldiers. We would then try to talk w/ the aliens inside, and if all else failes, destroy it.There are probably government procedures for it, but they are secret.
