Why do people think that Scientologists believe in aliens?
Frankly, I've never cared to read up on Scientology since I've seen it as just another money grabbing cult. My focus had been on "real" religions. After reading about Scientology I'm still convinced that it's a money grabbing cult. I've also noticed a disturbing pattern of attempts of censure of anything critical about Scientology. If there is nothing wrong with Scientology then why do they feel a need for censure? As for the aliens. Some pages that I find speaks secret teachings of aliens brainwashing the "Thetans" in the past and also the aliens living on Venus somehow "recycling" Thetans and sending them back to the ocean outside of California. And so on and on ...The so called "secret teachings" are only a small part of the pages, but, for anyone that are looking for way to point out how wrong Scientology is it's very easy to focus on the things that are totally ludicrous, the aliens. The same tactics is used for any belief or religion. Those that are against it will find the weak point and attack there. That you haven't heard of the "secret teachings" that comes together with your belief could be seen as disturbing. You belong to a group, but you (and your friends) don't know what some of the group members are up to. You are clearly not into the alien thing, but others that call themselves Scientologists are. Even if you don't agree with them it will reflect on you in the long run.

Alicej, it looks like you and your friends haven't paid your way up high enough to learn the REAL truth about scientology.
I'm also surprised you asked here since a quick google search would answer that question for you much faster.

Quote:
Xenu, also Xemu (pronounced /ˈziːnuː/ or /ˈziːmuː/), was, according to Scientology founder (and science fiction writer) L. Ron Hubbard, the dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions[1][2] of his people to Earth in DC-8-like spacecraft, stacked them around volcanoes and killed them using hydrogen bombs. Scientology holds that the essences of these many people remained, and that they form around people in modern times, causing them spiritual harm.[3][4] Members of the Church of Scientology widely deny or try to hide the Xenu story.
These events are known within Scientology as "Incident II",[5] and the traumatic memories associated with them as The Wall of Fire. The story of Xenu is part of Scientologist teachings about extraterrestrial civilizations and alien interventions in Earthly events, collectively described as space opera by Hubbard. Hubbard detailed the story in Operating Thetan level III (OT III) in 1967, warning that this material was "calculated to kill (by pneumonia etc) anyone who attempts to solve it."[sic][6][7]
The Xenu story is part of the Church of Scientology's secret "Advanced Technology",[5] normally only revealed to members who have already contributed large amounts of money.[8] The Church avoids mention of Xenu in public statements and has gone to considerable effort to maintain the story's confidentiality, including legal action on the grounds of both copyright and trade secrecy.[9] Despite this, much material on Xenu has leaked to the public, largely via the Internet.
