Meditation for the unsteady mind
I have found a few ways to help those that just can't seem to stop think when they are meditating. I my self am one of those people.
Here are a few things that one can do.
Don't think about clearing your mind. First off when a thought pops up push it out of your mind. Such as this
Sitting or laying and your eyes are closed a though comes about"
"What bill do I have to pay."
Say to your self " Stop, blue river fields of yellow flower." then keep trying to clear your mind. Do this every time a though comes about. Think of calming places that you like.
It always helps to have soothing music playing while you meditate also.
Another one is put a story line that is calm into your head.
Your standing in a middle of a field (imagine your self doing what your thinking about) As you look around there is a white rock stone path. You decide to take this path. As your walking along a path you come along to a closed door. Suddenly around your neck a key dangles. You take off the key and open the door.
Walking through the door you find your self in a different world and the white stone path keeps going. On your travel along the white stone path you see flower with little faries dancing on them. You see dragons flying in the bright blue sky. You finally come up to a forest as you walk the white stone path. In the forest are little woodlen creatures finding food or just playing. You start to hear running water.
Walking further you find out where the sound of running water has been coming from. There is a river moving quickly under a wooden bridge. You decide to walk over bridge to only find your self in....
A place that you would like to be. Such as a lake with water falls, a feild of flowers and other faries, and or a cave filled with a dragons treasure.
There you spend some time. You could imagine talking to some one that might be there. Or possibly a guide that will help you with many of your other meditation travels. once you feel calm and ready to go get leave the place that your at. Walk that white stone path through the wood and feilds back to the door. Open the door, close and lock it then open your eyes.
There are other ways to meditate for the unsteady mind. For now this will be all I will post. I'll post other ways at another time. If any one wants to add or ask any thing please feel free to do so.

RE: Meditation for the unsteady mind
There are times in every one's life where we just don't feel like being calm. There are so many moods that one has.
Dancing:
If you can or can not dance it doesn't matter. Put on a song with a beat, (rnb or a celtic up beat song) close your eyes and just listen to the music for a while. Make sure your standing. Do this alone in a room some where. That way you don't have the feeling of heavy eyes watching you. Move your body to the music and way you want to. Just let the beat take you away. Before you know it your mind body and soul will feel clear and if you want to try to go into another type of meditation you'd be more able to. Or you'll just have a light hearted feeling.
Hope this one helps too and untill next time thank you for reading.

Another way that I and a few others have done is called Agressive Meditation.
First of all this meditation is the type that you bring images to your mind. In this meditation you need to find music that builds up and falls. Any kind of music but what ever you use will have to build up to the climax, have a climax, and then fall. It is best to make a cd or to put the songs on your computer in the order you feel best.
You need to find the kind of music that will biuld up to a peek. It can take as many songs as you like. Just so that you can ready your self for the next part. Then of corse you also need to find some type of music that will heat you up. That kind that make you feel powerful and able to do any thing. second to last you need a victory type of song. One that starts to calm you down. Last that calming music that sooths the sole. The kind of music I listen to rang from hard core to a cletic druming.
(Note there must be the calming music at the end or you'll feel as though you still have that agressive feeling.)
Once you have your music together and ready to do the meditation sit down or be in

Any more meditating is what ever can clear your mind. Settle ones body enough to be able to feel good or think properly on a problem they may be having. I dance all the time. Though my husband some time have to close the library doors and put cotton in his ear but for me it's fun. Next time you want to dance to your music let it play before you start dancing. Listen to the beat of the song. Keep your eyes close as you start to dance. See what kinds of imag you may bring up. It's pretty cool to see what the mind brings up when one does this.

I find that when meditating and you have an intruding thought, it helps more to accept the thought and let it slide thorough and out of your mind rather than trying to "push" it out. For those who have ADD and ADHD find it extremely hard to meditate, and thoughts often parade through their mind like a circus, lol. It's best to use visualization and "create" in your mind a place you go to escape and to meditate. For me, it's a dojo, with rice-paper walls and weapons of all kinds on the walls. I have two doors, one that I enter by, and one that I use to enter my mind fully, and also this door is used for spiritual travel. I've been using this method for so long I kinda fly through the room when I need to travel somewhere, lol. Ever see Neo on Matrix flying? That's me, just zipping through. And it helps so much during meditation.
Another aid for the chaotic mind is music. We all have a form of music that resonates well with us and if you find yours, it helps in meditating.
