When I link to here from my e-mail notifications I get a pop up almost everytime, and sometimes when I move around within the site. It doesn't do it as much lately, though, for some reason.

PS i looked it up and go to this site ----> support.microsoft.com/kb/255499

or read this

SUMMARY
When you run the Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a) Update on your computer, the SR-1/SR-1a Update may request that you insert one or more of your Office 2000 CDs. This article explains why the SR-1/SR-1a Update requires your Office 2000 CDs and why you may not be able to install the SR-1/SR-1a Update if you do not have the CDs available.
MORE INFORMATION
If you installed Microsoft Office 2000 by using one or more compact discs (CDs), when you run the SR-1/SR-1a Update, the SR-1/SR-1a Update requests that you insert your original Microsoft Office 2000 CD. The dialog box that appears contains text similar to the following:
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Premium

The feature that you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.

Insert the Microsoft Office 2000 Premium disk and click OK.
The dialog box may prompt you for Microsoft Office 2000 CD1 or CD2, depending on which phase of the SR-1/SR-1a Update you are installing.

The SR-1/SR-1a Update requires access to your original Office 2000 CD for the following reasons:
• The Windows Installer preserves the integrity of your Office 2000 installation by "melding" the SR-1/SR-1a Update with your current installation of Office 2000. The SR-1/SR-1a Update uses the Windows Installer both to reinstall Office 2000 from your original CD and simultaneously to update your Office 2000 files to the SR-1/SR-1a level.

Because of the design of this feature, Office 2000 seamlessly uses SR-1/SR-1a files when you add, remove, or reinstall Office 2000 components later.
• Performing a reinstallation of Office 2000 while installing the SR-1/SR-1a Update ensures that your installation of Office 2000 is in good working order. This helps to ensure that any potential Office 2000-related problems (for example, missing files or registry entries) are eliminated as a result of installing the SR-1a Update.
• Because there have been several updates to Office 2000 since it was initially released, if the SR-1/SR-1a Update did not require access to the original Office 2000 CD, it would have to update every version of every Office 2000 file that was released prior to SR-1a. This would greatly increase the size of the SR-1/SR-1a Update.

In order to keep the size of the SR-1/SR-1a Update as small as possible, if the SR-1/SR-1a Update determines that a file to be updated is a later version than the original version of the file included with Office 2000, the SR-1/SR-1a Update recopies the original file from your Office 2000 CD and then updates the file. As a result, your files are properly updated, no matter which version they were before you installed the SR-1a Update.
For these reasons, when the SR-1/SR-1a Update prompts you for your Office 2000 CD, you must insert the CD to continue installation of the SR-1/SR-1a Update. If you are in an environment where the Office 2000 CDs are not readily available (for example, an office where all users installed Office 2000 using a single set of CDs and a multi-user license), you may need to contact your system administrator to obtain the CDs.

NOTE: The SR-1/SR-1a Update may not request your Office 2000 CDs in the following situations:
• You installed Office 2000 from a network location that contains a "flat copy" of Office 2000 (where the contents of the Office 2000 CD have been manually copied to the server). However, you need access to that "flat copy" in order to install the SR-1/SR-1a Update.
• You installed Office 2000 from a "flat copy" stored on your computer's hard disk. In this case, you need access to that local "flat copy".
NOTE: If you installed Office 2000 from an administrative installation of Office 2000 stored on a network server, you should NOT run the SR-1/SR-1a Update on your computer. Ask your system administrator to make sure that the SR-1/SR-1a Update is applied to the administrative installation of Office 2000.

NOTE: If you purchased a computer on which Office 2000 was preinstalled and you did not receive a set of Office 2000 CDs with the computer, contact the company that sold you the computer (the original equipment manufacturer, or OEM) and request a set of CDs.

NOTE: Office XP SP1 and other Office XP updates may not require the source CD if Installer 2.0 is installed. Windows XP ships with Installer 2.0.
